The EAL offers self-operation service for the majority of its instruments and sample drop-off service for limited instruments in certain circumstances. Drop-off service needs to be coordinated with the EAL Director well in advance of dropping off samples. Users are also expected to prepare their own calibration standards, check standards, and any QA/QC samples required for their protocol. If EAL staff is asked to prepare any samples, standards, or QA/QC protocols, there is an associated hourly rate for that service.
Self-operation means users are responsible for setting up and running instruments as well as data processing. For self-operation service, the EAL covers most of the supplies and consumables needed for instrument operation. Users need to bring or purchase any special consumables or supplies not stocked in the EAL for their own use. Please refer to individual instrument user guidelines for these details.
